Cost
Cost is what you paid for the item. It’s on the product’s Inventory tab, next to weight and dimensions.
Nothing requires you to enter it — a product with no cost still lists and sells normally. But recording it unlocks two things:
- The price ladder’s floor. If you turn on automatic price drops for a listing, CellerHub needs to know how low is too low. With a cost recorded, the floor defaults to your cost plus a markup, so a ladder never drops a price below what the item cost you. Without a cost, a channel-wide ladder rule has nothing to build a floor from and simply does nothing for that listing. See The price ladder.
- A per-listing note about margin. Where relevant, the product page shows a line next to Cost explaining what floor the price ladder would use for this item.
If you’re not using the price ladder, entering a cost is optional — but it costs nothing to fill in, and it’s what makes automatic price drops safe to turn on later without guessing at a floor by hand.
