Categories

You only ever pick one category — eBay’s. CellerHub keeps a shared table mapping every eBay leaf category to its equivalent on Mercari, so you never have to answer the same category question twice for the same product.

Picking a category

Use the category picker rather than typing a category name by hand. The picker resolves to a real category ID, and that ID is what everything downstream — the Mercari mapping, the conditions a category accepts, the item specifics it wants — is keyed on. A category saved as words alone (no ID attached) can’t be matched to anything and shows as unmatched on the other channel, even if the words would have been an obvious match to a person.

A product created from an eBay listing keeps that listing’s own eBay category. A product created from a Mercari listing does not carry its Mercari category over to eBay — a Mercari category ID isn’t an eBay leaf ID, and the numbers aren’t interchangeable between the two.

The Mercari match

On the product page, CellerHub shows what it worked out for Mercari from your eBay category, along with how confident that match is. Where the table has a confident answer, it’s applied automatically; where nothing is confident enough, the product shows that no match has been found yet rather than guessing silently.
