Words left out of estimates

A price estimate is only as good as the listings it’s built from. CellerHub leaves some matching listings out of the count on purpose, because including them would skew the number.

What gets left out by default

Four kinds of listing are excluded from an estimate’s comparison group by default:

• Damaged items — priced differently than a normal-condition item, so they’d drag a “good condition” estimate down.
• For parts listings — not a sale of the working item at all.
• Multi-unit listings — a listing for a case, lot, or bundle of several units prices very differently per unit than a single one. CellerHub looks for a quantity word paired with an actual count — “case of 6”, “6-case”, “x4”, “12 pcs” — rather than excluding every listing that contains the bare word “case” or “lot”, which would also throw out a listing for a single display case, or an item that happens to be named “Lotad.”
• Custom — anything you’ve added yourself (see below).

Two more exclusions apply independently of the above and were already in place: junk/obviously-wrong listings, and listings priced in another currency.

When CellerHub has to leave listings out, or fall back to a wider comparison group because too few match exactly, it says so under the price — for example, a note that some listings were left out as multi-unit, or that the estimate fell back to the nearest condition because too few listings matched exactly.

Changing what’s excluded

You can add your own excluded words and turn off individual default rules. This lives in Settings → Listing setup, alongside your templates and recipes — it’s a catalogue-wide default rather than something you set per product.
